                                       Heating Check List

  • HEAT EXCHANGER  will be inspected for cracks and deterioration. Heat exchangers can develop cracks with  age and normal use. If they exist, there is a risk of serious illness from the toxic fumes emitted into your home.
  • BURNERS will be inspected for rust build up and deterioration. Dirty burners can cause the displacement of gas and poor combustion.
  • BURNER OPERATION will be inspected for proper combustion and smooth operation. We will adjust burner air shutters if needed to obtain complete combustion.
  • GAS VALVE will be inspected and tested for proper operation. This will ensure proper ignition and burners will operate in a safe and efficient manner.
  • GAS LINE will be inspected and leaked checked from the furnace shut off ball valve to the burner. This will ensure the piping is leak free from explosive gas.
  • PILOT will be cleaned and adjusted if needed. A dirty pilot will cause a weak flame and can be easily extinguished causing the furnace to shut down and run the blower.
  • THERMOCOUPLE will be inspected for carbon build up and cleaned. The thermocouple will cause the furnace to shut down if defected.
  • SAFETY CONTROLS will be checked and tested to ensure safe operation. Safety controls that do not function properly can increase operation cost and cause other components to malfunction.
  • FLUE PIPE will be inspected for acidic corrosion and leaks. Insufficient Venting  of carbon monoxide can lead to a cracked heat exchanger.
  • BLOWER WHEELS will be inspected for dirt build up and alignment.
  • BLOWER MOTOR will be inspected and lubricated. Dry bearings will cause premature failure.
  • CAPACITORS will be tested. Weak capacitors will cause motor to over heat and consume excessive energy.
  • MANIFOLD GAS PRESSURE proper pressure is required to control fuel input to the burner. Excessive gas pressure will increase operating cost.
  • AIR FILTERS will be inspected and replaced at customer's option. Dirty air filters will reduce air flow and over all system operation.
  • TEMPERATURE RISE will be checked to ensure it is within manufacture specifications. This will eliminate short cycling and over heating of the heat exchanger.
  • THERMOSTAT will be checked and calibrated as required. Defective or improperly calibrated thermostat will affect comfort and operating cost.
  • PRESSURE SWITCH will be inspected and air tubes cleaned.
  • RELAYS AND CONTACTORS will be inspected. Pitted contacts can lead to over heating of wiring and possibly shorting out components.
  • INTEGRATED WIRING will be inspected for frail or discolored burnt spots. Loose connections will be tightened.
  • DUCT WORK will be visual inspected for air leaks and infiltration. Air leaks in the duct system will reduce over all system capacity and increase operating cost.
